As these lights use much less energy to create the light they do not get as hot as traditional light bulbs do and this therefore means that they last considerably longer. If you're willing to buy good quality LED bulbs you will find that they will provide light for between 30 and 50,000 hours. Whereas you'll sometimes expect a conventional light bulb needing to be changed between 5 and 10,000 hours.
Feature 4 - Light Distribution
How intense the light distributed by such bulbs is will rely on the housing used and what kind of carrier or reflector has been used to place the semiconductor on. Definitely the better quality these components then the more intense the light distributed will be. On average the amount of light emitted may vary drastically and the angle at which it is emitted varies also. In some bulbs the angle is only 15 degrees whilst in others it could be as much as 160 degrees.
Feature 5 - Energy Efficiency
These are regarded as among the most efficient type of lighting you can get today. At present most of these bulbs are able to emit about 30 lm/w of white light. But there are several now that have the capability of emitting 50 lm/w and hopefully at some point in the future many will be able to emit 100 lm/w. Thus it won't be very long before these types of bulbs have the ability to emit the quality of light that conventional light sources now provide.
